If there is one thread that runs through my journey, it is a lifelong curiosity about how people learn, what inspires them, and how thoughtful classroom design can bring learning to life even when resources are few. That curiosity is the heartbeat of Excel Ed.
Geneva Tackie
My story began on my father’s veranda in Accra when I was eight years
old. While other children played outside, I arranged chairs, scribbled
on scraps of paper, and turned the veranda into my own little
classroom. My students were imaginary, but my passion for teaching was
real. I spent hours explaining ideas to my make-believe pupils and
inventing creative ways to make lessons exciting and clear.
Those childhood afternoons planted the seed for what would become my life’s
work..As I grew older, that same curiosity led me to explore education
from many angles. I took on roles in consulting, research, college counseling,
and policy. Over time, I began to see a common thread. Too often, students
are guided by systems that measure achievement but overlook connection
and purpose.That realization stayed with me and eventually inspired the
creation of Excel Ed.It’s my contribution to my vision of education, where
classroom learning connects to purpose, passion, and possibility.
